CV Honors Program

News from the CV Director

Welcome back to all returning CV students. Big changes are in the wind for CV this year. Mrs. Kacergis and I now occupy offices on the second floor of Green Center, next to Dr. Dow. Stop by for a tour and visit.

Welcome to all incoming freshman. Be sure to spend some time in the lounge getting to know the upper classmen in CV. We have an exciting year before us. But first, we have a few things to celebrate.

Congratulations to CV Students:

  • to Saskia Versteeg, who has become UTD's first winner of an Udall Scholarship.  The Udall Scholarship is a nationally competitive scholarship awarded to 80 sophomores and juniors committed to careers in the environment, tribal public policy or Native American or Native Alaskan healthcare.
  • to Philip Campbell, who has been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.  This nationally competitive scholarship is awarded to outstanding sophomores and juniors, majoring in all STEMs fields, who are committed to a career in science and technological research.
  • to Truc Do, who has been recognized as an honorable mention for a Goldwater Scholarship.
  • to the following students who were selected as Archer fellows for the fall 2011 and spring 2012 semesters: Hannah Chapman, Camden Cornwell, Mary Popescu, Cathy Xie, Mayu Takeda, Stacey Mohammadie, Monica Niewiarowski, Bryan Thompson, and Aisha Noor.  They will be spending a semester in Washington D.C. interning and taking classes at the Archer Center.
  • to those of you who studied or interned abroad. Bring your stories in to share.
